Vancouver Film School Hosts Writing Workshops in Mexico

Vancouver Film School (VFS), one of the most distinguished entertainment arts institutions in the world, will be offering this year’s Guanajuato International Film Festival participants the opportunity to take part in a short film writing workshop.

Festival participants are invited to submit short scripts that are:

  1. No more than eight pages in length
  2. Written in English
  3. Limited to three locations or less
  4. No more than six or seven speaking characters
  5. Character-driven (please avoid special effects, stunts, and explosions)

From the submitted scripts, 12 applicants will be selected to participate in the workshops, led by VFS Head of Writing for Film & Television Michael Baser (Three’s Company, Full House), along with another VFS Senior Writing Instructor. Participants will be guided through a rigorous and enlightening workshop, similar to those taking place throughout a year at VFS.

Workshops will be held during the Guanajuato International Film Festival which takes place from July 19nd to 28th in Guanajuato Capital, Mexico.

Registration opens Thursday, May 30th, 2013 and closes June 30th, 2013 at 11:59 pm. Applicants are required to submit the scripts via email to eventsmx@vfs.com with a copy to industria@guanajuatofilmfestival.com.

Participants whose projects are selected are responsible for the costs of attending the workshop, including transportation, lodging, and food expenses.
