With the purpose of stimulating the production and collaborating in the strengthening of the Mexican film industry, the Guanajuato International Film Festival, (GIFF), the Government of the State of Guanajuato and the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) present the 11th International Pitching Market.
The platform of the International Pitching Market offered by GIFF, for the finding of funds, is a great opportunity for Mexican producers, to find funds for their productions through financial institutions from different countries, and assists them in the process of financing their projects in development in order to permit a satisfactory completion of their work.
This business model, first of its kind to be established in Latin America 11 years ago by GIFF, is an opportunity for the co-production and production of Mexican feature film projects (fiction, documentary and animation) that present the possibility of co-production or that may search funding for their realization, resulting in more than 20 cinematographic projects financed up-to-date.
The International Pitching Market annually unites Mexican feature film projects in development, international producers, investors and diverse film financing institutions from all around the world, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, Spain, Norway, The Netherlands, The Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, India, USA, UK, Colombia and Poland.
GIFF consolidates its network collaboration with festivals and co-production markets from all over the world in benefit of the national cinema, and develops the interchange of projects with the Cinefondation LA RÉSIDENCE of The Cannes International Film Festival (France), the Torino FilmLab (Italy), the Medienboard (Germany), Cinemart (The Netherlands) and, since 2014, with the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) No Borders International Co-Production Market (USA).
In 2013, more than 100 projects were submitted and 20 were selected to be presented at the 10IPM along with the 12 Cinéfondation La Residence projects.
In 2014, Poland is the country invited as a guest of honor, which will count with the presence of renowned professionals of the Polish film industry (producers, distributors and specialists), along with different funds and financing institutions dedicated to the development of international co-productions.
